LOGLINE: Tunde, a single dad and undercover romance writer, tackles Boston life with his son, finding chaos, love, and healing in quirky new friendships.
SYNOPSIS: In the pilot episode of Daddy Mode, Tunde, a widowed single dad and secret romance novelist, is struggling to make sense of Boston—a city where the rent is high, the Black folks are scarce, and even the laundromat feels like a personal attack. Parenting his sharp-tongued 6-year-old son, Nathan, while battling writer’s block, Tunde’s life is a daily mix of heartfelt moments and "what the hell" chaos. At the urging of Lena, his foul-mouthed, no-BS publisher, Tunde joins a local parents’ group to “make friends”—because nothing says friendship like standing around awkwardly with moms in yoga pants.
At the group, Tunde meets Stacey, an upbeat single mom who’s a little too friendly, and Titi, a Yoruba powerhouse who connects him to Boston’s Black professionals. Enter Sheila, Titi’s niece—a natural-hair goddess who immediately turns Tunde’s head. But there’s a catch: Sheila’s got a strict “no baby-daddy” policy. And Tunde? Yeah, he’s Baby-Daddy Prime.
Meanwhile, Tunde clicks with Sheldon, a fellow dad and football coach, until he stumbles on Sheldon playing "extra innings" with another kid’s mom. Oh, and that’s not even the wildest thing Tunde sees—because apparently, Boston also doubles as the set of an unlicensed swingers’ reality show. Let’s just say Tunde finds himself learning way more about his new “friends” than he ever wanted to.
By the end, Tunde is still trying to figure out if Boston’s chaos is a blessing or a curse. But one thing’s clear: from the drama, he’s finally got something to write about. Now, torn between the guarded Sheila and the eager Stacey, Tunde realizes starting over might just be the wildest—and funniest—adventure of all.
